Midea were established in 1968 and with global sales revenue of $17.3 billion USD in 2010 are one of the largest manufacturers of air conditioning and HVAC equipment in the world.

Midea have manufacturing plants in China, South America, South East Asia, Africa and Europe and employ over 130,000 people worldwide. In June 2004 Midea formed four joint ventures with Toshiba Corp. of Japan.

The Toshiba-Midea ventures make air-conditioners for domestic and commercial use.
